The Grand Union flag, also known as Continental Colors, was the first national flag of the United States. It became the official flag in December of 1775 and was relinquished in June of 1777. It became obsolete after the Flag Act of 1777 was passed. Removing the Union Jack and replacing it with thirteen stars representing the thirteen colonies.
