The Bedford Flag is the oldest known flag in the United States. In 1737 the Minutemen of Bedford used as the unit's flag. In 1775, the flag was in custody of Nathaniel Page, as it was passed on in the Page family. He took it to the Battle of Concord. Today the flag is the official flag of Bedford, Massachusetts. The flag flown in 1775, is in the care of the Bedford Free Public library and on display.

A: The correct order for displaying military flags is as follows:

Q: How should the American flag be displayed?
A: The flag should be hoisted briskly and lowered ceremoniously. When displayed against a wall, the union (the blue field with stars) should be at the top and to the flag’s own right (the observer’s left). When displayed vertically, the union should be at the top and to the observer’s left. The flag should never touch the ground or be used as drapery.
